Carolyn grew up in the City of Hattiesburg, Mississippi where her father was a USM Professor of Religion and Philosophy. She majored in English and taught in the public schools and at USM’s English Language Institute, and as a freelance journalist.
Her most interesting job was hostessing in a restaurant at Yellowstone National Park in Montana. There she lived and worked in the heart of nature inhabited by so many of God’s amazing creatures.
She is married to David Masters, a USM professor. They have no children of their own but she is surrounded and loved by his five daughters. She is a member of the Methodist faith and is a regular attendant of worship services at CR. She enjoys other activities as well as reading and writing, talking on the phone, and promoting healthy eating and recycling.
